This piece was a commission based on my 'chapters of life' series, which was inspired by the many moments of life, with all its imperfections. Each square builds the story and represents a new chapter.
Rather than cover up or hide the flaws, they are highlighted with gold detailing to show that when you step back and see the full journey of your life you will see that these are not flaws at all, but a cohesive, complex and unique picture to be celebrated.
'You Bring The Sparkle' uses five individual colours based on the Australian Flowering Gum in greens, blues and blush pink, to tell the story of a group of friends, each completely unique, and when hey come together they create a complex mesh of unexpected beauty.
One in particular (the blush pink), was selected to represent that friend who always brings a little something extra to the room, the colour used as a focal point to create the composition and bring this painting to life.
